In March 2003, construction began on what became Axell’s third location—then still operating as Ponetex Logistics—in Poland. This new site was established in Skierniewice, centrally located between Warsaw and Łódź. Back then, Jan Timmermans saw tremendous potential for growth in this part of Poland.

Ponetex Logistics was already a familiar name in Poland. The company had opened its first warehouse there in 1996. A partnership between the municipalities of Rakoniewice and Diessen laid the foundation for Timmermans’ expansion into the Polish market. This was soon followed by the launch of a second facility in 2000, located in Nowy Tomyśl, near Poznań.

The Skierniewice site consisted of a brand-new warehouse measuring 11,000 m², along with 500 m² of office space. The operation focused primarily on the storage, handling, and distribution of sugar and other food products for clients such as Lewiatan, Agros Nova, VOG Polska, Nordzucker Polska, and McCormick Company. The location was officially opened in May 2004 by the Mayor of Skierniewice, Ryszard Bogus, who cut the ceremonial ribbon.
